To date we've done quite a few of these engines and they're always a pleasure to work on. Ranging from 3 litre and 3.3 litre to special 4 litre versions. Services include :

  • Remanufactured and gas flowed cylinder heads
  • Test and Configuration on our dyno.
  • Running in after rebuild on our dyno.

On the cylinder heads we were able to tap in to our cylinder head skills. Basically the task was to remanufacture and, if possible improve on the existing standard cylinder head. In itself this is a challenge. Two heads, 12 cylinders, and this engine is hardly what you might call under-developed with 330 BHP from 3.2 litre.

Basically we developed and remanufactured new cylinder head from a new base casting. This gave us far more scope for machining the ports without reaching the water circuit. The head had to remain visually identical to the original. We ran the head through our gas flow process. Our digitising/CNC ensured all 12 cylinders had identical inlet and exhaust flow.

We also have done considerable analysis and work on the exhaust having realised a limitation caused by the existing exhaust. Analysis of exhaust resonance lead to a redesign of the primary exhaust manifold.

The result was 355BHP from the 3 litre engine and with a healthy improvement in torque. It is always great to work on this engine. On our dyno they sound fantastic. More like a musical instrument than an engine. Very special.
